The Washington Missourian
Because I know that I want to pursue journalism as a career, I have made several decisions that put journalism as my top priority. One that stands out clearly is my experience at the Washington Missourian. I first approached them about doing an unpaid internship to expand my skills. While I am fairly confident in my broadcast work, I wanted the internship because I knew that my writing and photography needed to be improved.
I first started in November 2018, photographing events and writing cutlines. As I progressed, the internship developed into a paid job. I love going back to my hometown and working for the newspaper. Being engulfed in the community and developing my skills through real experience are both once in a lifetime opportunities.
